In early September, The Hershey Company experienced a data breach after hackers accessed some of the company’s email accounts. The breach, classified as a phishing campaign, potentially exposed the personal information of over 2,200 individuals. The compromised data varied, involving details such as names, health information, digital signatures, contact information, driver’s license numbers, credit card numbers, and online account credentials. Although there is no evidence yet of the data being acquired or misused, Hershey has taken measures to secure its systems, including forced password changes. They are conducting an investigation with security researchers to prevent similar incidents in the future. This is not Hershey's first encounter with cybercriminals; the company faced a similar threat in 2011 when hackers altered a recipe on its website.
